Need advice on whether I should summon a spirit

Postby fairylight » Fri Nov 20, 2009 12:09 pm

I got a free spell from high priestess Doris from spells4free.com (in exchange for subscribing to her newsletter). She sent me a ceremony for calling a helping spirit that I can do for her spell to gain the full force faster. The name of the spirit is Gjoub. I googled the name and it says some places that it is a native american spirit of wishes and other places that it comes from around Namibia and is used in voodoo. It's also confusing if it's a good spirit or not completely.

The calling ceremony is the following:
Put three tealights in a bowl of water, light them and let them float by themselves.
Light a cinnamon insence stick, hold it with your left hand and do five circles in the air clockwise in front of yourself. Doing each circle say:
1. Calling Gjoub
2. Aid my cast
3. Need your powers
4. I seek results
5. Thank you Great Gjoub

Doris says he means no harm and if you open your heart and mind he will come and aid you but I'm still a bit wary of summonning. Anyone can tell what kind of wibe you get from this spirit? SD? Would appreciate if you checked it as I have only a little less than 72 hours now to do the ceremony. Do you think it won't harm me if I do it? Or should I not?
I also heard spells4free exposed as a scam - people say in her newsletter Doris advertises sites which are scams but also other people say her spells have done something for them. So should I be wary of the spirit and ceremony or is it really a well meaning helping spirit?

Hi Fairlylight,

When I look at that site I see marketing first and foremost. I do not see anything that comes across as truly authentic information. I see lots of new age or witchcraft sites like these with the standard and ever popular offerings of spells for love, beauty, money, etc. Often there is no explanation for the instructions which may as well be made up on the spot and hold no particular relation to the spell at hand other than being things to bind ones focus to the task at hand.

Some dead giveaways to me are that they want you to get on their mailing list so they can send you offers, products, services, etc which they will likely make commissions on. There is also the classic marketing ploy of "it's only going to be available [free] for a little while longer - hurry up before it goes away." The blog is full of advertisements for "pay for spells" sites disguised as content. The pop-up on the homepage leads to as site similar to other advertised links I've seen where the comments are fake and pulled from sites on the web. I do not believe these sites to be genuine, and at worst are total frauds doing a disservice to online spiritual community and its image.

My recommendation for seeking out good information on things like spells or magick in general would be to browse through amazon books from authors with experience in being iniated into magickal grades or paths (if that is something you are interested in), and to see which ones have lots of good feedback and reviews. It's by no means perfect, but it has served well so far for getting started with particular subjects whereas there is a lot of mixed information to be found on the internet.

I agree it's all about commerce, I googled this website before I signed up. But though it advertises payed offers I've heard people's comments when the spell did something better than they even expected. It's free and I can unsubscribe anytime so I have nothing to loose if I try it. I'm just a bit wary of summoning the spirit myself. Can you guys tell anything from sensing this spirit? Is it as harmless as she says?

When I read that name I get a bad vibe, and my gut feeling is to say I wouldn't. Giving a time frame smells of a trap to me.

I'd like to second that.

The vibe from that name is pretty negative.

If you want to achive something by working with entities, I reccomend sticking with dieties.
Try chanting some mantra. Ganesha is a good canidate for giving you some assistance.
